DESCRIPTION:

Alfuzosin is alpha 1 adrenergic antagonist, used in the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia, by causing relaxation of the muscles of prostate and bladder neck. Side effects include dizziness, headache, fatigue, respiratory tract infection and postural hypotension. It must not be in patients with renal insufficiency, and also not used where the patient has QT prolongation. Alfuzosin as causes relaxation of smooth muscles of prostate and bladder neck eases in urination. The first dose of the drug causes postural hypotension.
