Malignant hyperthermia is a type of severe reaction due to exposure to generalized anaesthetic resulting in high grade fever, muscle rigidity, high blood potassium, fast heart rate and muscle breakdown. Dantrolene is used in malignant hyperthermia as it causes relaxation of muscles and treating the muscles spasms and stiffiness by decreasing calcium in muscle cells.
